We are excited to announce that we’re launching a NEW series called #BroadenMe. We’re seeking submissions for informative 1000-1600 word posts highlighting the various broadening opportunities and considerations an officer should have in mind before pursuing one of these unique assignments.
Throughout an Army officer’s career we are presented with a few opportunities to do something different, to go off the traditional assignment path and gain new and unique experiences. The decision of when and where to take this career detour can have a significant impact on our growth as a leader and performance in future key developmental positions.
It’s been our experience that many officers don’t know about the opportunities available to them or at least don’t realize it until it’s too late. With changes in Army personnel assignments, knowing what broadening assignments are available has become even more important.
The implementation of the Army Talent Alignment Process gives officers more say in our future assignments than ever before. This increase in officer preference means that not only do we need to be familiar with the benefits of these opportunities, but that we also need to understand the potential risks in taking these assignments.
We know that many of you have had great (and not so great) experiences in these assignments. By sharing your thoughts in writing, you can help a younger officer make an important career decision.
If you would like to contribute to the discussion, please send your drafts to Connor[at]fromthegreennotebook.com NLT 01NOV20. Our team will gladly work with you to help you share and spread the word!
